Yoga Classes

What style of yoga are the classes?

Our classes are Hatha-based vinyasa style classes. This means the poses and philosophies taught are based on Hatha yoga foundations, but are linked together in a vinyasa flow style.

I have never done yoga before. Can I still join the regular group classes? What if I can’t keep up?

All of our classes are general-level and can cater for students with different levels of practice. We have students who are complete beginners to students who have practised for a few years already, all in the one class!

There is never just one way to practice yoga. We always encourage students to try lots of different variations/levels of the same pose and to move at their own pace, based on their level of experience (or just depending on how hard you want to work that day!). If you’re not sure, simply ask your teacher!

What do I need to wear and bring to class?

There are no specific requirements or ‘yoga clothes’ for class. Simply wear what you would normally wear to do exercise, or just anything that you feel comfortable in that won’t restrict movement.

If you have your own yoga mat, you are welcome to bring your own. Otherwise,  studio mats are available for hire for $2 and all other props are provided by the studio. If you tend to sweat easily, you may also like to bring a towel. Water bottles may be filled up at the studio, so please feel free to BYO.

Most importantly, bring an open mind and positive attitude!

Are there changing rooms and toilets available?

Yes. There are toilets across the corridor from the studio.

Where can I park?

There is ample parking available inside the Compton Business Park complex. Please note that the front gate to the complex closes at 6:30pm so please aim to arrive to night time classes at least 10 minutes prior to the class start time.

Do I need to register or book for classes?

You will be required to register before your first class. You may choose to do this online first prior to your first class to save time (www.wellnessliving.com/signup/lumaflowyoga)

Bookings are not essential, however we do encourage you to book in advance (especially so we know to expect you if you’re running late). You can buy class passes and book classes online once you have registered.

I’m not sure if I will enjoy the classes. Can I do a free trial class or just watch one class first?

We do not offer free trial classes. If you would like to try a class, we offer a flexible casual class pass option. New students also have an Intro Offer of 14 days of unlimited classes for only $45. This pass is designed to allow you to experience the studio and try all classes on the timetable.

To respect the privacy of other students, sit-ins are not permitted. If you would like to see what a typical yoga class looks like, you can find short 20-minute online classes on our YouTube channel: ‘LumaFlow Yoga’.

Nutrition consultations

Why do I need to attend an initial assessment before I can book a review?

In the first appointment, we will complete a full assessment of your goals, current lifestyle, work etc. It’s really about getting to know you! There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach in nutrition, and the point of 1-on-1 consultations is getting individualised support. Without a good understanding of your background and current lifestyle, it’s difficult to make tailored recommendations to help you achieve your nutrition goals.

How many review appointments will I need?

The number of review consultations you may need will depend on a few things: your goals, progress in achieving those goals, and personal preference.

If you have a longer term goal, you may require support over a longer period of time until you reach those goals, and vice versa. It’s common to fall off the bandwagon with lifestyle changes – don’t stress! The point of review consultations is to follow up and ‘check-in’ with you at different timepoints of your journey. We identify any barriers or challenges you have experienced since the last appointment, and make new recommendations or strategies to address those. Even if you haven’t struggled with making changes, some people prefer more frequent appointments to have someone keep them accountable.

I have a Medicare card. Are nutrition consultations covered?

Dietetic services are only covered by Medicare if you have a valid Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) or Chronic Disease Management Plan from your doctor. Please check with your doctor to see if you’re eligible.

Clients with a valid care plan may get rebates for up to 5 face-to-face dietetic consultations per calendar year. This number may vary depending on how many consultations your doctor has allocated to dietetics. Please check with your doctor if you’re unsure.

How do I claim private health rebates?

A receipt will be provided after your session to take to your private health fund.

How much can I claim from private health?

The amount you can claim depends on your own individual policy and extras cover. Unfortunately we do not have the facilities to check the exact amount. Please contact your private health fund directly.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule an appointment?

We understand that sometimes life gets in the way and appointments need to be cancelled or rescheduled. However, to ensure fairtness to other clients, a strict cancellation policy applies. One cancellation or reschedule is permitted per appointment with at least 24 hours’ notice. Two consecutive cancellations or reschedules for the same appointment will result in forfeiting or being invoiced for half of the consultation fee. Bookings cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will result in forfeiting or being invoiced the entire consultation fee.

Do I need to bring anything to appointments?

If you have an EPC, Chronic Disease Management Plan or other doctors’ referral form, please bring that as well as any other supporting documents (i.e. blood tests, medical results) to your first appointment.

Apart from that, bring a smile, an open mind and any questions you have!

Can’t find an answer to your question? Feel free to send us a message or email for more information!

We look forward to seeing you on the mat or in-clinic soon!
